Howdy folks!

Plenty of Slaanesh this week, with three Noise Marines that I spent a good bit of time on. One in particular looks quite disgusting... As he should.

But first, a note on my plans for 2015. I have a list of models that I want to get finished this year before moving on to anything else. The main idea behind this is that I want to get more progress done. In order to motivate myself, I have also added "rewards" for getting a set of models finished. So for example, finishing this Noise Marine squad has "unlocked" the task of finishing up the modelling aspect of my Predator. I'm hoping to keep this up throughout the year and get most, if not all of it done.

So without further ado, the list:

6x Noise Marines (Unlocks Modelling Predator)
4x Christmas models, comprised of the Emperor's Champion, Typhus, Hasslefree Clint and Beth (Unlocks modelling two Rhino's)
11x Night Lords Chosen (Unlocks modelling the Land Raider)
10x Chaos mercenaries (Unlocks Modelling AoBR Dreadnought)
29x Night Lord Marines (Only require highlighting/basing, but unlocks Dreadclaw conversion? To be decided...)
18x Fallen Angels from Dark Vengeance (Unlocks Cypher)
8x Vehicles (3x Dreadnought's, 2x Rhino's, a Predator, a Defiler and a Land Raider. These unlock nothing, as I'll be finishing up with them last. Once they're painted, I'll just go buy a house and fill it with jellybeans or something equally crazy.)

Should be interesting to see how things turn out! I always spend ages painting Noise Marines, as I double-layer the gold on and  highlight everything neatly, so getting some other models finished shouldn't take as long as they did. But I'm rambling now, so have some pictures:

I like how the purple worked with this dudes skin colour. Very infected-looking.

Again, liking the skin colour. Purple ink work wonders on white skin.

This one is pretty standard, so I gave him a Slaanesh shoulder pad.

Nice lens-thing though.

Sweet, merciful Christ, WHAT HAVE I PAINTED?!

I mean really, this guy is ugly.

This is probably the least offensive image I have of him, because you can't see his face.

He really is a shining example of how messed up Slaanesh is.

The purple ink looks good though!

Our trio of anti-heroes in a group shot. Or just plain villains. You decide.

The guns were painted with Liquid Gold's Copper paint. I then painted the fleshy-recess-parts with Hormagaunt Purple and washed with Agrax Earthshade.

The whole squad!

And in a much better shot.

And finally in a shot lead by one of the first models I ever painted: Lucius The Eternal. The years have given me a bit of experience!

So that's pretty much it for now people, if you have any feedback, please let me know.

On a final note, if you'd like to be featured in the blog list to the right of the screen, feel free to let me know.

Until next time, good luck!

Hey guys!

Two weeks have gone by since the last update, but now I'm back in Ireland and finally have enough time to myself to finally get stuck into project Fallen.

I also got my hands on the Black Legion and Crimson Slaughter supplements, as well as the Chaos Daemons codex while over in America. I haven't really gotten into the Chaos Daemons codex much yet, but it's certainly a good bit different from any normal codex. Between Daemonic instability, random wargear and a table that changes the battlefield every turn, I think it sounds like a fun codex to play with. Between the two supplements, the Crimson Slaughter one has way better fluff. I found it very interesting to read, and it even convinced me to start up a mini Crimson Slaughter army!

I have a few ideas for other projects too, since compartmentalising makes painting such a big backlog of models a lot less daunting.

So we've got:

  • Project Fallen (That's the current one)
  • Project Chaos (Chaos Space Marines. I'll throw a party when this one is done!)
  • Project Fallout (Just the twenty or so Fallout models)
  • Project Daemon (I haven't got that many to get through, thank god!)
  • Project Crimson Slaughter (Any Chaos stuff from Dark Vengeance, plus a squad of possessed)
  • Project Reborn
  • Project Raptor
  • Project Cultist
  • Project ORKZ!
  • Project Plague
Fallen, Fallout, Daemon and Crimson Slaughter are self-explanatory and have a note beside them to explain what they are anyway, however...

  • Project reborn is where I use green stuff to 'Nurglify' some mini's that were over-zealously basecoated. I'll be replacing some of the pieces on the miniatures that are too smeared with spray to look in any way good. I figure I'll get around to this sometime later in this backlog.

  • Project Raptor will be where I take about ten of my old Assault Marines and "Raptorise" them into Raptors using green stuff! I'll be buying some new modelling tools form my local hobby store to sort these dudes out. I don't have a great deal of experience with green stuff yet, so I'm hoping that this project will get me going in that department!

  • Project Cultist is both where I paint all of my cultists, and also convert my Warhammer Fantasy Battle miniatures into cultists. I got the idea from the Grave Guard-style cultists I made before. Depending on how they look though, I might just use this as a project for painting all the cultists.

  • Project ORKZ! is just where I paint all of my Orks. They consist of the Assault on Black Reach set, a squad of Boyz and a squad of Grotz. This one will be tackled after everything else, since I'm not too pushed about my Orkz.

  • Project Plague will be where I convert some Warhammer Fantasy Warriors of Chaos into plague marines! They'll essentially look something like this guys conversion: linky, but with bolters and generally more chaotic/rusted looking.

Anyway, projects aside, I actually had a Noise Marine almost painted before I left, and had some free time to paint up another Fallen. Enjoy!

Hey guys!

I know this entry is technically up on Monday, but I haven't gone to sleep yet, so I can claim a moral victory.. or something.

 Models!

Anyway, I got my Blastmaster guy done for this week. I call him "Devil Head" now...

Weaponless; to show off the work "under the hood", so to speak.

I really like how this guy turned out. Saving that head from the possessed pack really helped this dude shine. I used to horde all of the good bitz, but never actually used them. So now that I'm going all-out with my modelling and painting, I get satisfactory results!

I've just put another Chaos Spawn on the table, so should have something bigger, uglier and far stupid-er to show y'all next weekend.

Depending on how things turn out, I might also have a sneak-peek at what I'll be working on for all of April too... Hint hint, it's a completely side-tracked project. But if you've been paying attention to any of my latest posts on W-ired, you might figure it out!

Until next week, good luck!

Hey guys!

I got my first Noise Champion completely finished today, and am delighted with the results!
And with this model, my count of finished chaos models jumps to 52!

The additional details from his backpack, torso and sword-arm were what really took the majority of my time up. It took far more time than it usually would, but it paid off in the end since I'm delighted with how he turned out.
Front view.

Side view, with extra bolt pistol highlights.

Back view, since the doom siren took a lot of effort to finish.

Next, I plan on having a go at the other five members of this guys squad. I think I'll start with the Blastmaster guy who has a possessed head first, then move onto my Sonic Blaster guy, before finishing up with the converted Sonic Blaster trio.

Until next week, g'luck!

Hey guys, been busy this weekend as you can see, with making the final few models left of what has been a huge backlog, which started way back in January last year.

Simply making the fifty Cultists, ten Spawn and about thirty Chaos Space Marines can be a real pain when you can't help but customize almost every...

Single.

Model.

The spawn weren't converted at all from their original pieces, but every Cultist has at least a little bit of conversion going on. Some were complete kitbashes of Grave Guard, Dark Elf and Imperial Guard bitz, which were meant to be a homage to the original Cultist models. I haven't posted any of them yet, but will do at some point in the future. Today's post is about today!

I finally finished off the last of the Night Lords with this first beauty, a Bannerman with a few touch-ups here and there:

As you can see, I didn't personalize him nearly as much as the previous Night Lords, as I felt that the banner would be sufficient.  His helmet is a Chaos Warrior's helmet with the wings from a Grave-Guard helmet attached.

I also added a crow to the banner because, well... Prince of crows reference I guess?

It looks cool!

Next up are my Noise Marines. I really didn't know how to convert these guys. The Night Lords are easy enough as long as you make them look desperate and "scavangery".

I have no idea how to do the same to Noise Marines, so I just copied this chap!

http://www.genericminis.com/?p=23

He uses Black Templar bolters as his Sonic Blasters, which do look far better simply using regular bolters. I attempted to make mine look a lot more mutated using greenstuff (And some milliput "white" stuff, that turned out to be worse). I enjoyed making them look mutated a lot more than I should have really. After having to make my Night Lords all "clean" and un-mutated, these guys were a welcome break!

First up, the Blast Master guy. I just gave him a Possessed head that I had been saving. I figured that I would use it on either a Raptor or something else. I went with something else.

The regular Sonic Blaster guy. Not a whole lot to say here, other than that he has a Slaanesh shoulder pad from the regular Chaos Space Marine pack on his left shoulder.

The first of my mutants! Inspired by the above marine, I wanted to make it look like he had fused with his gun. I also wanted to avoid how the guy who I stole this from (Let's just call him "Greg" for the sake of not typing that out every time) didn't tackle the issue of how the demon-head-thing connected to the gun.

Anyway, Greg's models can get away with that because of the chain. His one's look clean, but characterful. On a regular Bolter, the demon-head just looks out of place. I figured that since the regular Sonic Blaster looks like it's fused to one of the wearers hands, a little green stuff fusion wouldn't look out of place.

Lastly, we have the champion with a Doom Siren and Power Sword. You can't see it too well, but his bolter has a sharp blade on the end of it. I got the idea for this pose from Jaime Lannister, who is a DERTY fighter, that stabs a guy in the head with a concealed blade. I figured that the Emperor's Children are kinda like that anyway, so wouldn't think twice about pulling out an extra blade in a supposedly honourable duel.

Hence why he's using both of the blades in his pose. Anyway, I got the head from the regular Chaos Space Marine box:

And that's all she wrote, AT LAST!

FINALLY, I can get back to painting without that nagging feeling in the back of my head that I've still got a load of models to put together. The only real construction left is changing over those grave-guard-headed models, eventually giving my old Space Marine models some chaos gear, and sorting out a bunch of old Assault Marines by turning them into either Raptors or Warp Talons.
