Hey guys!

Managed to get another Chaos Spawn done and a Dragon Warrior Chaos Space Marine painted up for the mercenary warband idea that I kicked off here.

The Spawn didn't take much time, but the Dragon Warrior took AAAAAAAAAAAAAGES because of all the grey highlights I had to do for his armours black trim. When I first started painting him, the dull black just looked horrible by itself. The highlights really make the model stand out.

Anyhoo, starting with the Spawn:

I wanted to make his arms look like neither of them really belonged to him. A metallic arm and an odd blue-green tinge on the other sorted that out pretty quickly.

Lots of blood, because why not!

The weird stains on this guy are due to my experiments with Gryphonne Sepia. No matter how I use that wash I never like the look of it...

Yeah, I experimented with this guy a bit wash-wise and colour scheme-wise.

Dragon Warriors are known to have a preference for Melta/Flamer weapons and "close quarters fire-fights", which I think I've portrayed in this model quite well.

I tried to keep to the image found on Lexicanum as much as possible, seen here. I really didn't want to do the scales all over his armour, as the grey highlights had already taken up a lot more time than I originally thought they would.

Lots of blood on the sword, tying in with the "Close quarter fire-fights" that these dudes specialise in.

I'm gonna be honest here, I just gave the backpack a heavy drybrush.

Scales on the shoulder pad, fitting in with their fluff.

Quite happy with this guy!

So that's what I've been getting up to recently!

I also have plans for 2015, in the form of a few units/models that I want to get finished for the year. These include:

  • My three remaining Noise Marines.
  • The models I got for Christmas.
  • All of my vehicles.
  • The remaining "Chaos Mercenary Squad".
  • The rest of my Fallen Angels army.
  • Highlighting/basing the 29-odd Night Lords that haven't been based/highlighted yet.
  • The remaining nine Night Lords Chosen.

Happy new year folks!

Hey guys!

Two models down this week, another Fallen and a Chaos Spawn to spice things up!

The Fallen is pretty much more of what you've all been seeing so far. That said, he does have a nice little cleaver strapped to his leg:

This Chaos Spawn reminds me of a dragon for some reason. Probably the "wings", horned head and almost orangey skin-colour... His arm is a warped mixture of flesh and steel, shaping into a sword. The mace-like ends of the tentacles have a similar painting scheme going on too:

I didn't get around to finishing off his base in time for pics to be posted, although it'll be done as soon as the glue dries up fully.

I'm pretty happy with how he turned out in the end! Spawn seem to be easy to paint, and when they give off a specific vibe (Like my good old dragon-buddy here), it just adds to their character and makes me appreciate them that much more.

Lastly, a sneak-peek at what will be next weeks offering! My first Fallen HQ, a Nurgle Sorceror:

You might have seen him before in a previous post, albeit with a power sword instead of the nice little scythe. I know it's more of a Death Guard thing, but I figured that it was far more fitting than a simple sword. That, and the sword bent a little while he was in my suitcase...

The scythe was made from a Warhammer Fantasy Marauder spears lower half and the upper half of a Chaos Warriors melee weapon. I think it suits him far better than the sword, which was really just tacked on to differentiate him from any loyalist Turmiels out there!

Anyway, until next week...

G'luck!

Hey guys!

I've been reeeeeeeeeeeally busy lately because I'll be heading off abroad on Wednesday, so haven't had a tonne of time to update anything.

I do have a few image of my spawn though:

And I ALMOST got my Emperor's Children dude with a Sonic Blaster done. Y'see, other than painting my usual miniatures and getting ready to go off away for six weeks, I've been getting quite a bit of modelling done...

Modelling for my new Fallen Angels project that will be taking up the next six weeks! I figured that since I'll be away from home (And therefore its many distractions), I'll have far more time to dedicate to painting something new. And that something is going to be a Fallen Angels army, consisting of the Dark Angels from Dark Vengeance, Dark Angels from the Dark Vengeance painting set, Azrael, Asmodai and a Watcher in the Dark.

I haven't decided yet, but I think I might bring a squad of those new Raptors along too, just in case I run out of things to paint when I'm over in San Francisco (And I love the models too).

Anyway, first up is my Nurgle Sorceror! He'll be covered in rust, and his sword will be particularly haggard to hint that it's actually a Force Weapon, and not just a power sword:

I won't be showing off all of my models yet, since I actually still have to finish off a few pieces on the Terminators, and I still have other preparations to make for Wednesday.

I might update this blog again before the week is out if I get around to finishing the Emperor's Children model... We'll see!

If not, see you next week!

Hey guys!

This week I've been pretty busy, but I did manage to get that Chaos Spawn out of the way, so I do have that to present for this week.

I figured that I should make it a weekly commitment to have something completed each week for this blog, so that:

  1. The blog is active.
  And:

 2. Progress is made on my considerable backlog of models.

So far it's been pretty easy to have something to update with each week, so I should be able to keep that going for some time.

HOPEFULLY, I run out of models to paint, at some point in the future...

A new backlog list would really help actually, so I might make one later on.

Anyway, Spawn!

I opted to use a regular-sized head for this Spawn, since that would make him look more human. And therefore terrifying.

Well, he is terrifyingly ugly at least...

I wanted to make his mere existence look painful, hence the blood. It makes it look like the tentacles are ripping out of his body, a la Resident Evil-style.

The pointed appendages on his back are poised to strike, which the blood alludes to.

Overall I think this guy actually looks like a monstrosity. He clearly looks tragic, and not at all like he wants to kill a bunch of people. He'd probably feel more like knitting with those pointy things.

So that wraps up this week, next on my plate are those Noise Marines.

I tried out some Hormagaunt Purple on one of them, but it really didn't work. Liche Purple looked far better, so that's what they'll all be getting.

Until next week, cya!
